Weekly vinyl alert! 🚨
Thanks to WEWANTSOUNDS for sending me their current release by Yukihiro Takahashi 高橋幸宏 which is an absolutely beautiful classic from 1978 which ranges from Bossa, French Exotica to Disco Funk. Furthermore there are two test-pressing by legendary Ryuichi Sakamoto 坂本龍一 with »Thousands Knives Of« from 1978 which is reissued outside Japan for the first time and an ultra rare, remastered disco classic by Donna McGhee (also from 1978) who already worked together with the Fatback Band and many more.
Ghana legend Gyedu-Blay Ambolley is back again with his upcoming album »11th Street, Sekondi« (where he was born) on Agogo Records which is chock-full of finest Highlife sounds. Try to see his European live-shows in November if you’re around.
Last but not least a bass-heavy monster of an album by KUSO GVKI on Block Opera which is called »Culture« and which is a melange of Hip Hop and Dub plus a dose of Electro. »Culture« is a rework of Gershwin’s jazz classic »Summertime« and works pretty well.
Thanks to y’all and be sure to hear these nuggets in my next show on Brooklyn Radio w/ two international guest mixes on the 4th November. But before you could check out my current episode w/ Fort Knox Five, Jayl Funk and Mat The Alien in the mix here: www.mixcloud.com/brooklynradio/oonops-drops-beatsntings-2
Have a good weekend! 🍂
